Entry Information:
Patterns will be posted and Entries will open on Sunday, February 20th at 6:00 am central time. Entry fees are $15 per class. Entries and videos are due by 11:59 pm central time on March 20th. Judging will take place from March 21st-26th, with results posted in the Get Gritty Group on March 27th.
Ribbons to be awarded for 1st-6th place in all classes. Classes will be separated for each division, Indoor and Outdoor Divisions compete separately. All entrants will be emailed a copy of their scorecard with judge’s comments.
High Point Awards will also be awarded to the competitor with the most points in each Division. Points are calculated by the number of entrants in each class. For example, in a class with 10 entries, first place earns 10 points, second place earns 9 points, third place earns 8 points, and so on.

Video Requirements: Please record in the landscape position. Videos should be recorded with sound on, and submitted with their original audio. Entry videos are to be uploaded to youtube, with the video link submitted on the video entry form.
Attire: This is a fun show. Show clothes are not required, however, all attire should be neat, clean, and appropriate for the class entered.
Tack and Equipment: Should be clean, in good working order, and appropriate for the class entered. See class descriptions for allowable tack. Prohibited tack in all classes include: Dropped, Figure 8 or Flash Nosebands, Martingales of any type, Tie Downs, and Draw Reins.
Sportsmanlike Conduct & Animal Welfare: All exhibitors must practice sportsmanlike conduct and treat horses in a manner that is kind, respectful, and compassionate. Any conduct officials deem unsportsmanlike or abusive to people or animals may result in disqualification.
Participate At Your Own Risk: Exhibitors participate at their own risk, understanding the potential risks associated with equine activities. By entering, each participant who engages in an equine activity expressly assumes the risks of engaging in and legal responsibility for injury, loss, or damage to person(s) or property resulting from the risk of equine activities. Class Information:
Showmanship:
Purpose: The purpose of Showmanship is to display the expertise of the exhibitor in presenting the horse. Each exhibitor is required to perform a posted pattern of maneuvers. Exhibitor’s expertise in presenting the horse is determined by the preciseness of the pattern, degree of confidence exhibited, and fundamentally correct body position. Handler is NOT permitted to touch the horse, must cue only using the lead rope/shank.
Video Requirements: Video should be recorded from the location indicated on the posted pattern. Cones, or another safe visible marker, will need to be set up according to the posted pattern. Having a person walk around the horse for inspection is not necessary, but the exhibitor must change quarters as if the judge were circling the horse.
Allowable Tack/Equipment: Rope Halter with Lead, Nylon Halter with Lead, or Leather Halter with lead. If a lead with a chain is utilized, it must go under the chin of the horse. If showing in English style tack/attire, a bridle is permitted. Use of a stick/crop/flag is NOT permitted in Showmanship.
In Hand Trail:
Purpose: The purpose of In Hand Trail is to display the horse’s expertise while being led through a posted pattern of obstacles. The horse should be well-mannered and responsive to the handler. Obstacles/maneuvers include: crossing a bridge or tarp, trotting over 4 ground poles, opening and closing a gate, backing in a figure 8 around cones, 360 degree turn in a box, picking up a slicker and placing in on the back of the horse, yielding the horse’s hindquarters and forequarters, etc. Handler is permitted to touch the horse to cue, however, may score lower than a handler that is able to be more subtle in their cues.

Obstacles/maneuvers include: crossing a bridge or tarp, trotting or loping over ground poles, opening and closing a gate, backing in a figure 8 around cones, 360 degree turn in a box, picking up a slicker, side passing over a pole, swinging a rope, yielding the horse’s hindquarters and forequarters, etc.

Ranch Riding (Walk Trot and Walk-Trot-Canter Classes Offered):
Purpose: The purpose of the Ranch Riding class is to showcase a horse that would be suitable for riding out on the ranch by completing a pattern at the listed gaits. A ranch horse should be willingly guided with steady, ground covering gaits. Pattern may include: work at the walk, jog/trot, and lope, as well as extension of those gaits. 360 degree turns on the haunches, and roll backs. Crossing of ground poles, backing in an L, and side passing over poles.
