As a Horsewoman, I want to share my love of horses and knowledge of horsemanship with the next generation. As a Mom to two little boys, I DO want my babies to grow up to be cowboys.
Honestly, I thought riding with my kids would be simple. I mean, I used to teach children’s riding lessons!
I quickly discovered that encouraging a love of horses in my own kids and helping them to be confident young riders is a lot different than teaching riding lessons!
On this page I will share what I am learning along the way that makes sharing a love of horses and riding with kids easier.
I’d love to hear from you- if you have questions or tips to share about riding with kids, please send me an email: [email protected] or fill out the form at the bottom of this page. Thank you!

Tack Tips
In this video I share some tack tips, including the three things I think should be on every little kid’s saddle.
1. Buddy Stirrups/Lil' Dude Stirrups: The set on Colin's saddle are made by Weaver Leather. https://www.ridethebrand.com/catalog/item-detail/30-0789/lil-dude-stirrups/pr_63612
2. Night Latch: You can find these at many saddle shops and online tack stores. A place I recommend is Platte Valley Saddlery (they also made Colin's chinks) https://www.plattevalleysaddle.com/nightlatch1.html
3. Booma Rein: You can learn more and purchase a Booma Rein at https://boomarein.com/
Note: I am not sponsored by or paid by any of these companies to promote their products.
